Submission

Submission Process

Manuscript for Global Sustainability Challenges should be submitted online at https://gsc.unionnikolatesla.edu.rs

To submit your manuscript, first Register and afterwards use Login to the submission page.

The first author should be the person who contributed the most to the work. He/she is the main responsible one for the literature review, acquiring and analyzing the data, result interpretation and writing of the manuscript. The list of co-authors should be determined based on their overall contribution to the article. It is also common practice that secondly main responsible author (usually the senior author) appears last, but we leave it up to your choice. Most important is the corresponding author, who will be the submitting author, and will have full responsibility for communication with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer-review, and publication process. Before submission, he/she must ensure that all the journal’s administrative requirements are fulfilled and that all co-authors have read and approved current version of the manuscript.

Accepted File Formats

Using of templates is a common practice in many journals. We follow the same practice, since it substantially shortens the time to complete copy-editing and publication procedure.

We provide Microsoft Word template (*.docx) that help structure the manuscript. Predefined style formats are available for all the necessary structures that are supposed to be part of the manuscript. Please insert your graphics (schemes, figures, tables) in the main text after the paragraph of its first citation. Supplementary files (where applicable) cannot be included in the printed version for reasons of space or medium (for example, video clips or sound files) and may be of any format (for details, see Preparation of a Manuscript.

Editors and Journal Staff as Authors

Editors are PhD-level scientists with research experience, that work closely with our Editorial Board Members to ensure that all manuscripts are subject to the same editorial standards and journal policies. Once you submit the manuscript, the editors will check whether it meets all the submission criteria. They are responsible for managing and assuring the integrity of the peer review process.

Editorial independence is very important and the editorial decisions should be based mainly on:

  • The suitability of selected reviewers
  • Adequacy of reviewer comments and author response
  • Overall scientific quality of the paper

Editors are allowed to submit their work to the journal, but cannot be involved in publication processing. Decisions will be made by independent outside reviewers and other editorial board members who do not have conflict of interests with the author. Global Sustainability Challenges do not interfere with editorial decisions.

Reviewer Suggestions

When submitting a manuscript, authors are advised to suggest two potential reviewers with the appropriate expertise, reputation and relevant previous experience. Please provide their contact information (names and institutional e-mail addresses). You may suggest reviewers from among the authors that you frequently cite in your paper, but you should avoid suggesting colleagues or co-authors during the last three years. However, the editor decides whether or not to invite your suggested reviewers.

Main reviewers' task is to evaluate originality, clarity and significance of the manuscript to the scientific community. He/she also checks the technical quality of the work and provides the editors with the information about the relevance of the subject matter to the journal. For authors, the review could either strengthen their paper, advising them how they could improve their work, or through a negative review, explain to the authors the weaknesses of their manuscript. The final decision for publication of all manuscripts is made by the editor.

Global Sustainability Challenges respect reviewers' anonymity, but we also support our reviewers signing their reports to authors if they feel comfortable doing so.
